Sleep is seen as part of good self-management,
so not getting enough rest can make you seem… kinda unproductive.




In France, nights are all about slowing down and socializing.
People usually go to bed between 11 p.m. and midnight—later than in the U.S., but not as late as in Japan.
Dinner starts around 8 p.m., and it’s common to enjoy a long, relaxed meal with wine for two hours or more.
They tend to get a bit more sleep than the average Japanese person,
and nighttime is seen as a key part of enjoying life.
For them, enjoying the night = enjoying life—
so even if they’re night owls, they still come off as really fulfilled.


Spain is surprisingly one of the most “night owl” countries!
