最近、
ものすごく給食が食べたい。
給食のわかめごはんが
なんだかんだ一番好きな
メニューだったので、
今ふとしたときに
すごく食べたくなります。
ところで、
みなさんは、
海外の給食費って
一体いくら位だと思いますか？
日本では
一ヶ月くらいにかかる
給食費がたいてい、
公立小学校で
一ヶ月4000円くらい。
アメリカの給食費は、
一食2ドルから3ドルなので、
大体、1ヶ月1万円前後くらいと
日本よりはお高めです。
もちろんアメリカの給食はそんなに栄養に
こだわっているメニューじゃないので、
ちょっとあれなのですが、、、
実は最近、
アメリカのミズーリ州に住む
ある少年（5年生）が、
給食費に関するある取り組みを
行ったことが話題になってるんです。
あ、給食を英語で

給食って結構高い。

Dakane Kramer, a fifth grader living in Missouri, learned that there were children in his school who couldn't afford to pay for their school lunches and decided to take action. He called on parents, local residents, and businesses to help pay the school lunch fees of these children, all from in front of his smartphone, and he managed to raise funds by himself.

募ったんです。

なんとその二倍の
116万円が集まりました。
ダケーン君のお母さんは、
給食費が未納だと
プロムなど学校行事に参加できない
ルールがある学校に余った金額を
全額寄付したのだそうです。
“Poverty” は「貧困」という意味です。経済的に困窮している状態を指します。
