It is clear that while the content of any particular ego illusion does not matter, its correction is more helpful in a specific context.
自我の錯覚にあらわれる個々の内容は重要ではないが、それを正すには特定の情況にそっておこなうほうが、もっと役立つということもはっきりしている。
Ego illusions are quite specific, although the mind is naturally abstract.
自我の錯覚はきわめて特定なものだが、心は本来抽象的なものだ。
Part of the mind becomes concrete, however, when it splits.
しかしながら、そうした心が分裂すると、その一部は具象的になる。
The concrete part believes in the ego, because the ego depends on the concrete.
その具象的な部分が自我を信じているわけだが、それはその自我が具象的なものに依存しているからだ。
The ego is the part of the mind that believes your existence is defined by separation.
自我は、あなたの存在は（神から）分離したものと限定されていると信じている心の部分である。
Everything the ego perceives is a separate whole, without the relationships that imply being.
自我は、すべてのものはそれぞれ一つのものとして分離して成り立っており、存在を暗示するつながりなどないと知覚する。
The ego is thus against communication, except insofar as it is utilized to establish separateness rather than to abolish it.
だから自我は意思の疎通をすることに反対するが、分離状態を完全になくすためではなくて、それを確定するために利用するときにかぎって例外だとする。
The communication system of the ego is based on its own thought system, as is everything else it dictates.
自我の意思の疎通体系は、それが規定するほかのあらゆることと同様に、独自の思考体系に基づいている。
Its communication is controlled by its need to protect itself, and it will disrupt communication when it experiences threat.
自我が意思の疎通をするときは、自我そのものを護る必要性によってそれを抑制し、脅威を感じだしたときには意思の疎通を中断させる。
This disruption is a reaction to a specific person or persons.
このように中断するというのは、ある特定の人あるいは何人かの人たちにたいする反応としてである。
The specificity of the ego’s thinking, then, results in spurious generalization which is really not abstract at all.
特定な目的をもった自我の考え方は、結果的にもっともらしい一般論を生じるが、実のところ到底抽象的といえるものではない。
It merely responds in certain specific ways to everything it perceives as related.
単に何らかの関連があると知覚するあらゆるものに対して、ある特定な方法で応じるだけである。
In contrast, spirit reacts in the same way to everything it knows is true, and does not respond at all to anything else.
それと対照的に、本質的な魂（スピリット）は真実だとわかっていることにはそのすべてに同じやり方で反応し、ほかのことには全く応じようとしない。
Nor does it make any attempt to establish what is true.
それに本質的な魂（スピリット）は、真実であるものをなんとか確証しようと試みることもない。
It knows that what is true is everything that God created.
真実であるものとは神が創造したあらゆるものだとわかっている。
It is in complete and direct communication with every aspect of creation, because it is in complete and direct communication with its Creator.
本質的な魂（スピリット）は創造されたもののあらゆる面と、完全にそして直に意思の疎通をおこなっている。本質的な魂（スピリット）は創造主と完全にそして直に意思の疎通をおこなっているのだから。
This communication is the Will of God.
こうした意思の疎通こそ神の意思（愛＝天意）そのものといえる。
Creation and communication are synonymous.
創造と意思の疎通とは同じことを表している。
God created every mind by communicating His Mind to it, thus establishing it forever as a channel for the reception of His Mind and Will.
神は自身の御心を伝えることでそれぞれの心を創造し、こうしてそれを御心と意思とを感受する表現経路として永久に確立した。
Since only beings of a like order can truly communicate, His creations naturally communicate with Him and like Him.
ただ同じ階級に実在するものたちだけが、本当に意思の疎通をすることができるのだから、神の創造なさったものが神と御自身に似たものと意思の疎通をするのは当然といえる。
This communication is perfectly abstract, since its quality is universal in application and not subject to any judgment, any exception or any alteration.
こうした意思の疎通は完全に抽象的、というのも伝えようとする資質は普遍的に当てはまるものだし、どのようにであれ判断をくだされたり、例外とみなされたり、部分的に変更されたりすることはないからだ。
God created you by this and for this.
神はこのようにしてまたこのためにこそあなたを創造なさったのである。
The mind can distort its function, but it cannot endow itself with functions it was not given.
心は与えられている役目を歪めることはできるが、与えられていない役目を自分勝手に授かったとすることはできない。
That is why the mind cannot totally lose the ability to communicate, even though it may refuse to utilize it on behalf of being.
だから心は意思の疎通をする能力を全部失うことはできない。ただしそれを実在するために利用するのを拒否することはあるかもしれない。
Existence as well as being rests on communication.
存在することと実在することは、ともに意思の疎通に基づく。
Existence, however, is specific in how, what and with whom communication is judged to be worth undertaking.
しかしながら存在するには、特定のやり方でどのように何についてだれと意思の疎通をする価値があるかどうかを判断する。
Being is completely without these distinctions.
実在するにはこのような区別など全然しない。
It is a state in which the mind is in communication with everything that is real.
それは心が実在的なものすべてと意思の疎通をおこなっている状態そのものである。
To whatever extent you permit this state to be curtailed you are limiting your sense of your own reality, which becomes total only by recognizing all reality in the glorious context of its real relationship to you.
あなたがこうした状態をある程度まで削がれるままにするなら、あなたは自分の実在をその程度のものだと制限しているのであり、それは、全実在は本当に自分とつながっていて、栄光に満ちた情況にあると気づくことによってのみ完全になる。
This is your reality.
これこそあなたの実在である。
Do not desecrate it or recoil from it.
冒涜したり、後ずさりしたりしないように。
It is your real home, your real temple and your real Self.
それはあなたの本当の生家であり本当の神殿であり本当の真の自己である。
God, Who encompasses all being, created beings who have everything individually, but who want to share it to increase their joy.
実在するものすべてを包含している神は、その実在するものを、それぞれにあらゆるものを持っているばかりか、自分の喜びを増すためにそれを分かち合いたいという望みを持つように創造した。
Nothing real can be increased except by sharing.
実在的なものは一つ残らず、分かち合うことによってのみ増すことができる。
That is why God created you.
だからこそ神はあなたを創造したのである。
Divine Abstraction takes joy in sharing.
神々しい抽象概念たる存在は分かち合うことに喜びを見いだされる。
That is what creation means.
これこそ創造が意味すること。
“How,” “what” and “to whom” are irrelevant, because real creation gives everything, since it can create only like itself.
「どのようにして」とか「何を」とか「だれに」とか、そうしたことは無関係だ、真の創造はただそれ自体と同じように創造できるだけなので、あらゆるものを与えるのだから。
Remember that in the Kingdom there is no difference between having and being, as there is in existence.
神の国では何かを持つというのと何かであることにはなんの違いもないのであり、そうした違いはただ存在するうちにあるということを思い出してほしい。
In the state of being the mind gives everything always.
実在する状態においては、心はつねにあらゆるものを与えるのである。
The Bible repeatedly states that you should praise God.
聖書には、神を賛美すべきだと繰り返しはっきりと書かれている。
This hardly means that you should tell Him how wonderful He is.
だがこれは神に対して、いかに素晴らしい神であるかを言うべきだという意味ではない。
He has no ego with which to accept such praise, and no perception with which to judge it.
神はそのような賞賛を受け入れる自我や、そうした賞賛を審くのに要する知覚力を持ってはいない。
But unless you take your part in the creation, His joy is not complete because yours is incomplete.
しかしあなたが創造における自分の役割をつとめないかぎり、あなたの喜びは不完全なので、神の喜びも完全ではない。
And this He does know.
神はこうしたことをよくわかっている。
He knows it in His Own Being and its experience of His Son’s experience.
神自身、自らのうちに生じている様子をわかっているし、そのうえ御子がどんな経験をしているのか、それもわかっている。
The constant going out of His Love is blocked when His channels are closed, and He is lonely when the minds He created do not communicate fully with Him.
神の表現経路が閉鎖しているときには、絶え間なく注がれている愛はさえぎられており、自身の創造した心が十分に意思の疎通をしようとしないときには、寂しい思いをしているのである。
God has kept your Kingdom for you, but He cannot share His joy with you until you know it with your whole mind.
神はあなたの国をそのままに保っている。しかしあなたが自分で心の底からそうだとわかるまで、神は自身の喜びをあなたと分かち合うこともできない。
Revelation is not enough, because it is only communication from God.
啓示で十分だといえないのは、それがただ神からの一方的な意思の疎通にすぎないからである。
God does not need revelation returned to Him, which would clearly be impossible, but He does want it brought to others.
受けた啓示を神に戻す必要はない、それはたとえそうしようとしても不可能であることははっきりしている。しかしそうした啓示をほかの人たちにもたらすようにと望んでいるのは確か。
This cannot be done with the actual revelation; its content cannot be expressed, because it is intensely personal to the mind that receives it.
これは実際の啓示をもたらすということはできない。その内容を表現することなどできはしない。そうした啓示はそれを感受する心にとって極めて個人的なものなのだから。
It can, however, be returned by that mind to other minds, through the attitudes the knowledge from the revelation brings.
しかしながらその心によってそれをほかの者たちの心へと戻すことはできる。すなわちそうした啓示がもたらす叡智を態度で示せるということである。
God is praised whenever any mind learns to be wholly helpful.
神は、だれかの心がただただ本当に役立とうとするようになるたびに、賛美をうけていることになる。
This is impossible without being wholly harmless, because the two beliefs must coexist.
悪意を全部なくしなければ、役立てるようになるのは不可能だ。二つの信念が共存するに相違ないのだから。
The truly helpful are invulnerable, because they are not protecting their egos and so nothing can hurt them.
真に役立とうとする者たちは傷つけられることはない。なぜなら自分の自我を護ろうとしてはいないので、傷つけることができるものは何ひとつないからである。
Their helpfulness is their praise of God, and He will return their praise of Him because they are like Him, and they can rejoice together.
その人たちが助けになっているということは神を賛美することであり、その人たちは神に似ているので神はその賛美をそのまま戻して、その人たちはともに喜び合える。
God goes out to them and through them, and there is great joy throughout the Kingdom.
神は自身を、その人たちへ、そしてその人たちを通して注がれるので、神の国のすみずみまで大きな喜びに満ちている。
Every mind that is changed adds to this joy with its individual willingness to share in it.
変わることを選んだ心はどれもみな、自ら進んでその喜びを分かち合いたいという思いがあるので、その喜びに加えることになる。
The truly helpful are God’s miracle workers, whom I direct until we are all united in the joy of the Kingdom.
本当に役に立つ者たちは神にぞくして奇跡をおこなう者たちであり、私がその人たちをみんなが神の国にいるという喜びのうちに一つに結ばれるまで指導する。
I will direct you to wherever you can be truly helpful, and to whoever can follow my guidance through you.
私は、どこへでもあなたが本当に手助けできるところへと向かわせ、だれでもあなたを通じて、私の導きにしたがうことのできる人の所へと差し向けるつもりである。
