WOMEN should be encouraged to reach their potential says Professor Mary Shilalukey Ngoma.
Prof Ngoma says women should reach excellence because they can do a lot.
"There is a lot we can do as women, there is a lot that we can contribute to the world through the bodies that exist," she says.
Prof Ngoma is the first female medical doctor and paediatrician to be appointed professor in the field of medicine and paediatrics in Zambia.
She was appointed Associate Professor in paediatrics and child health by the University of Zambia in July last year because of her outstanding contribution in paediatrics and child health in Zambia.
She is a consultant paediatrician and neonatologist in the department of paediatrics and child health at the university of Zambia's School of Medicine.
She has over 30 years work experience that includes medical practice, research, lecturing and administrative work.
We caught up with Prof Ngoma at her office during the week.
