ウィズダム、実践ロイヤル、綿貫先生の「基礎～～英文法」に続いて ライトハウス英和にも、no more than ＝ not more thanの 記述を見つける。ルミナスにも載っていた。ロイヤル英文法にも載っている。
ちなみに マスター英文法には no less ～ than と not less ～ than でほとんど意味が同じになる場合についての記述があった。
英文法書、英語辞書の読み比べ、おもしろいですなあl。
副詞でlyがつくと意味が変わるもの

hard とhardly
I studied hard during the vacation.
I hardly studied during the vacation.
high と highly
He jumped high.
He is highly intelligent.
late と lately
She came here late.
She has been tired lately.
他に類例として near nearly just justly（正しく） などがあげてある。
また slow slowly や quick quickly loud loudly はほとんど意味が変わらないとある。
● 表現のための実践ロイヤル英文法
①ｌｙがついてもほぼ同じ意味・用法のもの、として
cheap cheaply clean cleanly clear clearly loud loudly quick quickly slow slowly smooth smoothly
②ｌｙの有無で多少意味が変わる（抽象的になる）ものとして
The lark is flying high in the sky.
The Swiss legal system is highly developed.
Earthworms often dig deep into the ground.

また、 direct directly は「直接に」の意味であるが、directlyには「すぐに」の意味もあるとの指摘。
他に wide（広く） widely（広く、ひどく） close （接近して） closely （綿密に）
near （近く） nearly（ほとんど） short（短く） shortly（すぐに）
③lyの有無によって意味がはっきりと違うもの。（これは数が限られているのでよく使う語を覚えておけばよい、とある）
I tried hard to imitate her pronunciation.
It hardly ever rains in the desert.
The pentagon came to this conclusion too late.
I have been very busy lately.
hard hardly just justly（正当に） late lately most mostly（たいてい）があげてある。
●新マスター英文法
lyがつく形とつかない形で意味が変わるものとしてまとめられている。
He works hard.
He hardly works.
Spring is drawing near.
He was nearly drowned.
He stopped short.（急に）
He will arrive shortly. (shortly=soon)
He arrived home late.
Have you seen him lately?（完了時制では、lately recently 同じように用いられるが、過去時制ではrecentlyが多い、との指摘）

塾で扱ったプリントでは、 short shortly sharp sharply close closely の６つが扱われていた。
エスト総合英語には一つも載っていない、ということになる。
sharpはマスター英文法にしか載っていない。またshorｔの例文もマスター英文法にしか載っていない。
実践ロイヤル英文法では、３段階に分かれていることが興味をひく。
実践ロイヤルによると、close とｃｌｏｓｅｌｙは近い意味ということになり、closelyのほうが、抽象的ということになる。
英文法は深いなぁ。
しばらく、英文法書と英語辞書の引き比べをやってきたいと思います。
塾で使っている教材に
Her lecture was above （ ）.
という問題があって、答は me らしい。
知恵袋で相談したところ、above my head が正しく、above me や above ｍｙ understading は間違いとプログレッシブ英和にある、と指摘された。
しかし、ヤフー辞書（プログレッシブ英和中辞典）でひくと、above me は載っている。
ためしほかの辞書を引くと、O－Lexは、above me 、 above my understanding、 above my head すべてが載っており、ウィズダムは、和訳のみで、用例がなかった。
O－Lexには、 above よりもbeyondのほうが普通との記載がある。
