英国；会計システム問題；補償
2024.01.17のBBC「Midnight News」で次のセンテンスが聴き取れた。
「The global chief executive of Fujitsu, Takahito Tokita has told the BBC his company is sorry for its involvement in the Post Office IT scandal. Between 1999 and 2015, hundreds of sub postmasters were prosecuted for theft and false accounting based on evidence from the faulty Horizon IT system, which was developed by Fujitsu. MP's on the Commons Business and Trade committee, also received an apology from another senior executive from the firm. Paul Patterson said that the company had a moral obligation to contribute to compensation for sub postmasters.」
（富士通のグローバル最高責任者、時田隆仁氏はBBCに対し、同社が郵便局のITスキャンダルに関与したことを遺憾に思うと語った。1999年から2015年にかけて、富士通が開発した欠陥のあるHorizon ITシステムの証拠に基づいて、何百人もの副郵便局長が窃盗と虚偽会計の罪で起訴された。ビジネス貿易委員会の議員らも、同社の別の上級幹部から謝罪を受けた。ポール・パターソン氏（欧州担当最高経営責任者）は、同社には副郵便局長への報酬に貢献する道徳的義務があると述べた。）というもの。
時田氏はスイスで開かれた「World Economic Forum」で「Would you like apologize?」と聞かれ「Yes of course.」と答えている。また、上述のパターソン氏も謝罪の意を示しているようだ。
しかし、報道は最後に
「It was a frustrating session for the MP's ask key questions about who knew what and when, and how much compensation should be paid were left unanswered.」
（国会議員は、誰がいつ何を知っていたのか、賠償金はいくら支払われるべきなのかといった重要な質問が未回答のままで、もどかしい議会となった。）と結んでいる。
以前、日本企業が作製し、英国の郵便局会計システムに導入された「horizon system」について記載した。同システムに基づいて有罪判決を受けた人々に対する補償問題がクローズアップされているようだ。
企業としては、誠意ある対応をするようだ…。
