My name is tiramisu, and I'm into
indigo dyeing now.
日が暮れるのが、
日ごとに
遅くなってきましたね
。
まだまだ寒さがつづいていますが、
あと少しで
梅の花の季節ですね・・・
。
The daytime is getting longer day by day.
Although we still have cold days,
soon it will be the plum blossom season.
ところで、
昨年の今頃、
徳島県のとある田舎で
紙漉きのワークショップに参加しました
。
その時にたくさん
和紙を作りました
。
すっかりその存在を忘れていたのですが、
昨日ふと
刺繍
のサンプルをその和紙にしてみよう！と
思い立ちました。
By the way,
this time last year,
I joined a Japanese washi paper making workshop in Tokushima,
and made lots of sheets of washi paper.
I had totally forgotten them since then, but
yesterday I came up with an idea
to make a sample of embroidery on the washi paper.

から作った和紙。
その丈夫さに、びっくり！
手でビリっと破こうとしても
あれ～
全然ダメ
。
The washi paper was made from Kouzo trees, mulberry trees..
I tried to cut them by hand, but
they were too steady to cut .

に濡らしてみたら、
あれっ
いい感じに破くことが出来ました。
切り口の繊維がふわっとしてね
そして、
縫い目の針穴
のすぐそばに針
をさしても
繊維が丈夫なので、
紙は破れずに刺繍が出来るという事もわかりました。

So I tried to moisten them.
Surprisingly, the paper was cut easily.
I like the loose fiber exposed by the cutting.
Moreover, I found that the washi paper was suitable for embroidery.
The stitces were sometimes too close together,
the paper didn't break
because the fiber is strong.
protected each hole, not to be combined into one.

The sample of embroidery is
a cherry blossom, knot, crane, hexagram, turtle, and dragonfly.
