This morning, Mr. Inasaku and I packed koji for shipment and helped deliver black rice (ancient rice) to a distributor.

Mr. Inasaku told me about how he helped prepare for the Dondoyaki Festival this Saturday.

For those who do not know, Dondoyaki is a festival that involves burning decorations that were used to celebrate the end of the year.

Since the decorations are no longer needed and it would be disrespectful to the gods to use them again next year, they are burned in a pyre.

The pyres here on Kyushu Island are made from bamboo and whatever wood is available.
