松井、ワードシリーズへ （NYT 10月16日）

松坂は負けたが、松井のロッキーズは一気にダイアモンドバックスを破って、猛烈な勢いで、ワールドシリーズに先乗りした。記事を見たら、松井の活躍についても、コメントされたので嬉しくなった。がんばれ松井。

The Rockies, who last lost a game on Sept. 28 in the regular season, trailed by 1-0 until the bottom of the fourth inning, when they scored six runs to take a 6-1 lead.

最後に負けたのがレギュラーシーズンの9月28日という、ロッキーズは4回裏に、1対0でリードされていたが、その回に6点をあげて6対１と逆転した。

The big hit of the inning was a three-run home run to center field by Matt Holliday off Micah Owings, the losing pitcher. It was Holliday’s second home run in two nights.

この回の大きな一打は、この試合の敗戦投手のMicah Owingsからマット・ホリディが放ったセンターへのスリーランホームランだった。彼にとっては、2晩で2本目のホームランだった。

But the key play of the inning was an error by Conor Jackson, the first baseman for the Diamondbacks. After Owings gave up two runs, he appeared to be out of the inning when Willy Taveras tapped a ground ball to first base with two outs.

しかしこの回で重要なプレーは、ダイヤモンドバックスの一塁手のコナー・ジャクソンのエラーだった。Owingsは2点取られたあと、2アウトで、ウィリー・タベラスをファーストゴロに打ち取って、ピンチを切り抜けたと思われた。

But Jackson bobbled it and Taveras was safe. Kazuo Matsui followed with a single to score a run, increasing the lead to 3-1, and then Holliday drove a ball into a grove of evergreen trees beyond the fence.

しかしジャクソンはボールをファンブルして、タベラスがセーフになった。松井稼頭央は、その後シングルヒットを打って、打点を上げ、リードを3対１と広げた。その後、ホリディがフェンス越えの打球を常緑樹の林のなかに打ち込んだのである。
