ここは伊豆半島中部の小さい村である。バスの終点になっているＹ村からさらに２キロほど山へ入っている。村から都会へ働きに出ているものや、他郷へ嫁いでいる女たちの何人かは、正月休みに村に帰ってくる。毎年帰ってくるものもあれば、何年かぶりで顔を見せるものもある。
