who was getting a little dizzy. He felt as he
had once felt in his rash youth when another
boy had enticed him on the merry-go-round
at a picnic.

dizzy:混乱した,目まいがする
rash youth:向こう見ずな若者
entice:そそのかす
merry-go-round:メリーゴーラウンド,回転木馬

「う～ん、残念だけど知らないね」　話についてい
けないマシューはそう答えた。無鉄砲な若者だった
時にピクニックに行ったことがあるが、そのときメ
リーゴーランドに乗らないかと誘われて感じたのと
同じ気持ちがした。
