British North-American Actはモントリオールをベースに活動したカナダの5人組。メンバーのうち二人は地元の出身ですが、ひとりはハンガリー、残りの二人は英国生まれという、ちょっと変わった編成です。

この"In the Beginning"は1969年にリリースされた唯一のアルバム。ファズギターとチープオルガン入りの、ボーカルハーモニーが心地良いポップ～メロウサイケの佳作となっています。ストリングスやホーンが入ってなくて、フォークロック寄りの風通しの良さがあるのも特徴です（2月1日発売予定）。
