Crowds have been gathering at the spot where early this morning a man taking his pet monkey for a walk had to leap back from the edge of the river when a giant tentacle suddenly appeared and attempted to grab his pet.

A: Yes. Tom, loud and clear. What’s the latest news of the giant squid?

T: Well, it hasn’t appeared again yet. Around five hundred people, many of them sushi chefs, are waiting behind police barriers just for a glimpse of the beast. I had a chance to talk with the gentleman who spotted it this morning, Mr. Watanabe.

But nobody can tell whether the squid has gone back to the sea or is still hovering beneath the surface in the river.

Since I came to this spot, there has been nothing to see except for lots of small fish and the crowds of people.
