先日、恵比寿駅そばのKFC(Kentucky Fried Chicken)でこんなものを見かけました：
カーネルおじさんのコスプレ姿です。
映画「ドラゴンボールZ 神と神」とケンタッキーのコラボで、日本全国に７体しかないコスプレカーネルおじさんのうちの一体だそうです。
さて、この「コスプレ」ですが、英語では何と言うのでしょうか？
日本のアニメ&マンガなどを中心に紹介する英語サイトとして（自称？他称？かは不明ですが）ナンバーワンを誇る、かなり面白そうな"Anime New Network"というインターネットサイトからの引用です：

He was impressed by the hall and the costumed fans and reported on both in Japanese science fiction magazines. The *coinage reflects a common Japanese method of *abbreviation in which the first two *moras of a pair of words are used to form an independent *compound.
