Baldwin (2013) にナガハナダイ属カシワハナダイ Pseudanthias cooperi の仔魚の標本写真が出ている。

日本産ハタ科ハナダイ亜科の仔稚魚の形態的情報はかなり乏しい。
かつて本ブログ（2014-11-04）に「ハタ科 ハナダイ亜科（タイプB）」というタイトルで載せた仔魚（下記）は，形態的特徴が酷似していることから，やはりナガハナダイ属で間違いない。

鰭条数（背鰭，臀鰭，胸鰭）の組み合わせからは，胸鰭条数が17であることでナガハナダイ属 Pseudanthias の可能性が高い。
しかしながら，背鰭第３棘と腹鰭第１軟条が伸長しない点で，先に示したナガハナダイ属の１種（フタイロハナゴイの可能性が大）とは大きく異なる。
なお，イズハナダイ属 Plectranthias のレッドブロッチ・バスレット P. winniensis か，これに酷似する種もこの鰭条数組み合わせに当てはまるようだ。
ナガハナダイ属には異質な種が含まれている可能性もありか？
