著者は、大富豪の父親と、絶世の美女で平和活動の母親の間に生まれた一人息子として、
本のカバー写真のような幸福な幼児時代を送りますが、両親の離婚とともに見捨てられ、
継母からは「ここまでやるか」というくらいのイジメを受けます。
寄宿学校に入っても、心が荒みきる体験を重ね、天使のようだった少年が、
相当なワルとして生きていかざるを得なくなるわけです。最後は少年院に入り、
本当にダメになりかけたところで、奇跡のような事態が彼を救います。

The author was growing up in a wealthy and prominent San Francisco family as the
old son of billionare father and a beautiful mother, a socialite and peace activist, and
spent a happy childhood as shown in the photo of the book cover.
But, his happy days have ended when the parent divorced.
Received excessed vicious treatment from the stepmother,
he entered a boarding school where he spent days of wild experience.
A boy like an angel has changed to a delinquent boy.
Finally, he was sent to a reform school and his life has almost corrupted.
Then, the miracle happens.............

この本の著者、ショーン・ウィルシーさんが先日ご宿泊されました。

Mr.Sean Wilsey, the author, has stayed at Arai Ryokan in a couple weeks ago.
A cute boy in a red jacket filmed in the photo of the book cover is Sean.
今回のご宿泊は,
映画「ノルウェイの森」(未公開）の監督トラン・アン・ユンさんも泊まった宿
と出版社から聞き決められたとのこと。
ちなみにウィルシーさんは原作者村上春樹氏の大ファンだそうです。
Learned from Shinchosha that
Mr.Tran Anh Hung,the director of a theatrical film "Norwegian Woods"(to be released)
stayed at Arai Ryokan,
Mr. Wilsey dicided to visit Arai Ryokan.
Mr. Wilsey is an admirer of Mr.Murakami Haruki.

ショーンさんのプロフィールに紹介されていますが,
以前ベネチアでゴンドラの船頭見習いをしたというユニークな経験をお持ちです。
その動機を伺ったところ、
水の都ベネチアならではの独特の文化に触れるためだそうです。
池の上に建つ桐の棟に泊まり、ベネチアを懐かしんだ。
という感想でした。
As introduced in the author's profile,
Mr. Wilsey has a quite exciting experience that he once received a rowing training
from a gondola boat man in Venice to study the traditional culture of Venice,the floating city.
As stayind in Kiri Wing built on the pond,
he said he missed the days in Venice.
