At this year's colloquium, more than 60 participants from five countries will discuss body and improvisation from various viewpoints, looking at subjects such as history, technology and cognition.The School of English and Theatre Studies and the U of G Library present the first Iranian film series screening at the University. Grass: A Nation's Battle for Life is a 1925 silent documentary that follows the journey of the Bakhtiari, a poor nomadic tribe in Iran. The film will be followed by an open forum and a Q session. OVC dean Elizabeth Stone and college faculty will lead discussion of the book, whose narrator recounts his life spent caring for animals in a secondrate circus. Culture Days is intended to boost awareness, accessibility, participation and engagement in art and cultural activities and to demonstrate how important these activities are in any community. It's part of a national grassroots initiative patterned after Journes de la culture, which has been held in Quebec for some 13 years.Other weekend activities will include a latenight lantern tour of the outdoor sculpture park, music, barbecues, wine and cheese, art exhibits and screenings of documentaries about artists Tom Thomson and Ken Danby.
