先日、夫と2人で東京から福島へドライブしてきました。
片道4時間ほどかかるので、運転を交代するよと旦那にいってはみたものの、私は10年以上ペーパードライバーなので、心配で余計に疲れるからと旦那に断られました。
まぁ、私も運転する気はなかったけどね。

・he would be tired ➔ he said it would make him tired
解説: ご主人の「（君の運転に乗っていたら緊張して）余計に疲れちゃうよ！」というユーモア混じりのニュアンスを出すため、「それが彼を疲れさせる（= 余計疲れる）」という形に整理しました。
