There are the plays for Oshyogatu(お正月).They are one of Japanes fun in winter. Oshyogatu means originally the first month of a year, January in sum, but most Japanese are thinkihg that it is only January 1th, 2th, 3th. Oshyogatu is the day which is celebrated new year, but Japanes treat Oshyogatu as the first three days in January. I think that the reasons which Japanese have these ideas is to be tired cotinuing significiant days and to be no thank for long significiant days.

There are the plays of Oshyogatu like Takoage[凧揚げ(kite)], Komamawashi[こま回し(spinning top), Karuta[かるた(japanese cards)], Fukuwarai(福笑い), etc. Fukuwarai is a play that we enjoy a funny face. It is made by setting Japanese traditional character Otafuku(阿多福)' face which is separated into mouth, nose, eyes, etc, at the outline of Otafuku's face by a blindfold man.

There are some games we play during Oshyogatu(お正月).They are some of the fun things we play in winter. Oshyogatu is the days in which the new year is celebrated celebrated new year. It originally meant the first month of a year, which is the whole month of January, but most Japanese people think it is only January 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. I think this is because Japanese people would think that celebrating a whole month is too long.

The games are Takoage[凧揚げ(kite)], Komamawashi[こま回し(spinning top), Karuta[かるた(Japanese cards)], Fukuwarai(福笑い), etc. Fukuwarai is a game that we enjoy by making a funny face. It is played by blindfolding a person and then having that person drop parts of face such as the mouth, nose, eyes and so n, onto an outline of the face of Japanese traditional character Otafuku(阿多福).

If you don't have images of Fukuwarai, this site has some pictures of it.
