Metabolism: city of the future

というわけで、真面目なレセプション後、

話題のexhibitionを見てきました。

森美術館　５３階です

一般公開は昨日から確か来年の1月中旬までです

the usual contemporary art and/or textbook modern artみたいに、

カップルやファミリーでもアプローチしやすい展示会ではなく、

完全に建築の世界です。

ん～～～、

なかなかヘビーというか、今までのMAMとはdifferentなexhibitionだと感じました。

METABOLISM ん？ ARCHITECTURE? え

って最初　思いますよね？

it's actually a movement born from the visions of architects back in the 1960s,

postwar devastation and during the period of economic growth.

Metabolismという、biological term applies to the ORGANIC NATURE of a city GROWING, REPRODUCING, ADAPTING, TRANSFORMING in response to their environment.

なるほどね

at the beginning　of the exhibition-

なんだか難しそ～～うな雰囲気がどうしてもあって、

i was sooo reluctant to even take interestだけど、

このMetabolismという、このbasic concept/movementのfoundationを理解したら、

なんだか面白い展示会だと改めて、思いました。

だって、it shows us what the architects and city builders were thinking back then!!

highways in between skyscrapers とかだよ!!　今でもfuturisticなアイデアとかを考えてたのね!!

we know what was actually possible, since we live in the present. their future is NOW.

Reality is the results.

ってことは、

今現代のarchitecture, which builds the FUTURE, とっても関係してるよね。

50年後、what they were thinking back THEN. って言われるデザインが、

今のarchitecture and planning。

studying the dreams and visions of the past-

未来に向けての　ヒントやinspirationになることでしょうね

今度、改めて、建築家の先生とrevisit the exhibitionしたいと思ってます！

実は、今日、academy hillsでsymposium welcoming speakers who were ACTUALLY at the CENTER of the METABOLISM MOVEMENTがあるんだけど。。。　どうしようかな～～～　行こうかな～

"metabolism as politic"のprogramもあるんだよね～

これも面白うそう。

businessやpoliticsがどう影響されたか、どうsocietyがtransformされるか。とかとか！

relative but kind of off topic だけど-

in the past ive often wondered- WHY does JAPANESE SOCIETY LOOK like how it looks?

WHO DECIDED? HOW? it IS very systemized and functional-

it affects the way of life- how we think- how we act-

architecture and the designing of a cityってなにげにit has such great influence on building communities and its people.. therefore, a nation's culture!!　かなりAMAZING!!

ever since I could remember- I was always into FASHION and MUSIC,

then comes the joy of discovering the passion for ART and FOOD,

INTERIOR and ARCHITECTURE comes dead lastなんだけど,

なんか、実は、建築の世界って面白いのかもね～
