I am writing this daily in English for several reasons.
Since some of them are too dumb to explain, I will refuse to explain the reasons why I am writing it in English.lol
Hummmmm I don't know what to write.
Well, I am currently working as a front desk agent in a hotel.
It is such a great thing that I got an opportunity to work in actual tourism industry.
But at the same time, it is pretty painful.
At first, I barely get minimum wage.
It could be one of the differences between Japanese hotels and American hotels.
Jobs in hotel can often be considered as "blue color (idk if the spell is correct) jobs" and you cannot really expect to get paid well.
Of cource it could be different if you work at 5-star hotel, but most of front desk agents are not paid that much.
Unfortunately, I am included in this sad situation.
But still, as a foreigner, there are a lot of things I have learned.
Obviously, I learned a ton of new words such as valet parking or incidentals.
Some words were not familiar for me because of differences of hotel systems in Japan and States.
Surprisingly, it is pretty common that hotels have valet parking in states.
Valet parking is basically that there are people who park your car.
Doesn't it sound so fancy? Nothing is actually fancy tho.
Anyway, there is no doubt that I have learned so many new words since I started working in this hotel.
The other thing i have learned is phone operation.
It was my absolute least favorite thing for my work.
Even in person, I had so much trouble with having conversation with guests.
So how come I could have no problem when I talk with someone on the phone.
At first, it was just a package of nightmare.
I cannot blame people who got mad at me not being able to talk on the phone without asking same questions multiple times.
The first couple weeks of working was just a nightmare.
I even thought maybe I should go back home just because I cannot talk with people on the phone.
Right now, I am not gonna say I am doing perfect cuz I am not.
But my phone operation skill got much better for sure.
To be honest, it is pretty stressing to work and I have even cried once because of stress (and my period was right there at the moment!!!)
My shift is almost done.
So I am going to finish today's daily at here.
Have a good day everyone.
