こんばんは。
ヘアメイクと着付の出張サービスをしているHANAです。

ちょっとどうでもいい話なんですが…
みなさん爪をどのくらいの頻度で切っていますか？
最近はネイルをきれいにしている方も多いですよね。
でも私は“白い部分”が見えてくるのがどうしても嫌で、ついすぐ切ってしまいます。

深爪一歩手前くらいが落ち着くんです。

マニキュア💅を塗ったこともあるのですが、

どうも指先が息できないような気がして苦手で…。
しかも、以前何度か塗っていたら爪が裂けてしまったことがあって、それ以来ちょっと怖いんです。
それに、仕事柄どうしても長い爪は無理ですね。
お客様の着物や自分の着物に引っかけてしまいそうで。

私は生来のおっちょこちょい（もはや死語 笑）なので、できるだけリスクは減らしておきたいと思っています。
一応、甘皮処理くらいはしていますけれど。

指先がきれいな方を見ると憧れます。
落ち着いていて、大人の雰囲気がありますよね。
私はどうもそわそわしていて、着物姿もなんとなく「雑」に見えてしまう。
少しでも“きれいな着物美人”に近づきたいなぁ。

高幡不動尊か多摩動物公園で紅葉を楽しみながら

一緒に着物でお散歩しませんか？
雨だったら、お茶を飲みながらでのんびり

着物トークしましょう。

Good evening.
This is HANA, doing hair & makeup and kimono dressing.

A small, random question… how often do you cut your nails?
These days, so many women keep their nails beautifully done.
But me—I can’t stand it when the “white part” starts to show.
So I always cut them very short, almost to the point of being too short. That’s when I feel most comfortable.
I’ve tried wearing nail polish 💅 before.
But it felt like my fingertips couldn’t breathe, and I couldn’t stand it.
Once, after painting them a few times, my nails even cracked—and that was enough to scare me away.
Also, in my work, long nails just don’t work.
They would easily catch on a customer’s kimono—or even my own.
And since I’m naturally occhokochoi (a clumsy type—this Japanese word is kind of old-fashioned, haha), I’d rather reduce any risks as much as I can.
At least I take care of my cuticles.
I really admire women with pretty nails.
They always look calm, elegant, and mature.
Me, I still feel restless, and in kimono I sometimes end up looking a little “messy.”
That’s why I dream of looking more like a beautiful, graceful kimono lady someday.

衣紋の抜き加減

台風が近づいているせいか、ちょっと頭がズキズキしてました。

今日は着付け仲間とランチしてたんだけど、やっぱり話題は着物のことになる。
最近の出来事話していたら「衣紋の抜き加減」について盛り上がりました。
少し前に、私がInstagramにアップした写真に

「抜きすぎですよ」ってコメントがついたんです。
でも友達に見せたら

「真夏の普段着なら問題ないよ！訪問着だったらアウトだけど、これは普段着だから大丈夫」

と言ってもらえて。
あの時は、なんだかほっとしました。
実際、衣紋を抜くと涼しいしね。

改めて思うのは、襟の合わせ方って

その人の雰囲気を作るし、

衣紋の抜き加減には“その人らしさ”が出るんだなってこと。
ほんの少しの違いで、印象って大きく変わるんです。

着物って奥深い！
そんな「自分らしい着物の楽しみ方」をシェアしたくて、秋のお出かけ企画を考えました。

Maybe it’s because the typhoon is getting closer, but I’ve had a bit of a headache today.

I had lunch with a fellow kimono dresser, and we ended up talking about how much to open the emon (the neckline at the back).

Our conclusion? It always depends on TPO—time, place, and occasion.

The other day, I posted a photo on Instagram where I thought my collar looked perfect, but a stranger commented, “That’s way too open.”

When I showed the photo to my friend, she said,

“If it’s casual wear in midsummer, there’s no problem at all. If it were a formal kimono like a homongi, it would be different—but this is casual, so it’s fine.”

That reassured me.

(And honestly, leaving it more open does feel cooler in the summer!)

The conversation reminded us of those unusual customer requests, like wanting a Coming-of-Age Day furisode styled like an oiran, or a seven-year-old’s kimono tied like a maiko.

It’s tricky, because every style has its own meaning and context.

What I realized again is this:

The way you align the collar shapes the atmosphere you give off, and the amount you open the emon shows your individuality.

Even the smallest difference can completely change the impression you make.

自分の魅力…て？

こんばんは。

ここ最近、大きなことをいろいろ考えながら、
実際にそれを行動に移すには何が必要なのか、

真面目に向き合っています。
数字のこと、しっかりとした計画。
もちろんそれも大事。
でもそれ以外に、もっと根本的な大きなテーマが出てきました。
それは――
「私って、人に好まれるような魅力があるのか？」 ということ。
だって、もし私に魅力がなかったら商売にならないですよね。
特に私のような個人事業主にとっては、どれだけ人を惹きつけられるかがすべて。

そこでさっき、親しい知り合いに「私の魅力って何？」って聞いてみたんです。
そしたら困ってしまって（笑）、
「はっきり言うところ？」と、かろうじて答えてくれました。

でもそれって、お客さまには届くんだろうか？
そんな疑問も浮かびました。

じゃあどうする？
笑顔の練習をして、「さらっと着こなす着物美人」を目指す？
うーん…そこじゃない。

きっと私にだって、ささやかでも何かあるはず。
その小さな魅力をどうにか見つけて、伸ばしていかなくちゃ。
眉間の皺だってチャームポイントにできるような、
そんな“私だけの魅力”を必死に探しているところです。

Lately, I’ve been thinking about some big things,

and as I try to figure out what it really takes to turn those ideas into action,

of course there are things like numbers and solid plans.

But beyond those specifics, another big question has come up:

“Do I even have a kind of charm that people are drawn to?”

Because honestly, if I don’t, then I can’t build a business.

Especially as a sole proprietor like me, it all depends on how much I myself can attract people.

So earlier, I asked a close acquaintance, “What do you think my charm is?”

She seemed a bit stumped (😅), and finally said, “Maybe that you’re straightforward?”

But then I wondered—would that even reach my clients?

So what should I do?

Practice smiling more? Aim to be a kimono beauty who wears it effortlessly?

Hmm… no, that’s not it.

I’m sure I must have something, even if it’s small.

I have to find that little piece of charm and nurture it.

Even the wrinkles between my brows—I want to somehow turn them into a charm point.

Right now, I’m desperately searching for my own kind of charm.
