大好きな落語「猫の皿」を英語にしてみました。
The man worked at an antique shop in N.Y.
His name is George.
He found vintage items and sold them at a high price.
However, it is hard to find high-level antiques in one city.
So he went out to the province to find some beautiful antiques.
He buys vintage items from people who think they are just old cups and vases at a cheaper price.
For example, he visits someone's house and finds old armor in the storage room.
He says " Oh, this armor is a little bit dirty. I will buy it and recycle it".
However, actually it is expencive armor among maniacs.
One day George got into an old diner.
An old man was cleaning at the back of the counter.
George orded a cup of coffee.
The old man said "Yes" and he began to put in drip coffee.
George looked inside the diner.
Two old tables, Four old chairs in each one.
There are five counter seats.
A cat is drinking milk from a saucer next to the counter.
George was surprised.
It isn't the cat.
"That saucer is old but........"
George approached the cat.
And he said "you are very cute."
While he was holding the cat, he checked the saucer.
George was convinced.
It is a famous England vintage saucer.
He thought. "The old man doesn't know about the value of this saucer.
I can get it at a cheap price."
George said "Hey! This cat is very cute. I love the cat.
I don't have a family. I'm lonely. Will you give me this cat"
The old man said " No. I can't give you"
George didn't give up.
" I feel destiny for the cat. I will cherish it.
I know I can't buy the love. But I want the cat.
Will you sell the cat for $500.
Then the old man said
" Oh, Do you love this cat so much? I understood."
George paid $500 to the old man, and he got the cat.
Geore said " I heard that some cats eat foods from a familiar saucer.
I will get this saucer"
However the old man said " No! no! You must not take the saucer.
Because the saucer is an expencive vintage item. It costs $10,000.
George shouted out " What !? Why did you use such an expencive saucer for the cat?"
The old man said.
" When a cat is eating food from the saucer, the cat is bought for $500.
