This week proved to be a big update for iruna! The final upgrades for Bishop Sceptre and Empress Rod came out (as well as the 2nd upgrade for Barbarotita, which happens to be better than Scalpello).
Sadly, I lost my 2s Bishop sceptre but I still have my empress rod... the upgrade is fantastic and way better than forbidden book v.4:
ww..
In other news, I got my hands on a adamantire arrow!
Images for my updated damage will come soon
Edit:
Damage with just minstrel buffs at noms
With thimble wol:
With ad.arrow beezlenoid:
With ad.arrow noid + apostolia:
At yarde with bishop/glad/vit-int-dex servant buffs and ad.arrow beezlenoid:
I finally got around to trying a max attack ice bow with eisen against nommar. Comparing its damage to my illusion bow, the amount of damage is a little less than the illusion bow (but pretty much negligible). Supposing this finding extends to all of the elemental bows (which it doesn't ww), only using a 2s elemental bow would provide better damage...,
On Sweet Home Drop Rate:
I did a very short test with Sweet Home Song. On my minstrel, which had a 1☆ drop fortune, 2 currone, and a jar of greed equipped, it received 7 uncommons from a 60 boss run on Flammel.
My bishop, on the other hand, had a 5☆ drop fortune, 2 currone, and a jar of greed equipped. Interestingly, it also received 7 uncommons from the same boss.
Only further and longer experimentation will confirm this but, it appears from the outset that it is highly possible that the Sweet Home effect is similar to having a 5☆ fortune.
So my best friend Erza let me borrow her adamantite arrow with beezlenoid the other day. I decided to record the damage I was able to do with it.
This is my damage with thimble with wol instead:
Now this begs the question.. whether beezlenoid is better in special than dajarte. I will have to test it...
In the meantime, I must try to get the arrow... it's damage way outclassed thimble (as to be expected). Makes sense, seeing it gives 1.1atk per str, rather than thimbles 1atk (I believe) per dex.
More fact checking and testing required. I suppose in while farming the arrow, I could try testing the percentage of the rare drop rate for Sweet Home drop song.
It's been a while since I've played, so I'm trying to get the hang of it again. 笑
Now, there are new skills for all jobs, the new classes Beast Knight and Servant have been implemented, and tons of new crysta and al crysta can be farmed.
That being said, this allows players to be much more versatile and varied in their builds and how they strategically use their skills in parties. ・ω・
So, we can use certain equipment and items in such a way that best befits how we want to play. For example, before I could not really survive with my minstrel at the now popular leveling spot with baum warriors.
They are fast and hit hard!!ヽ(`Д´)ノ
But now I can use the following combination to have about 30k HP and high defense to withstand their attacks: wound transfer, licht armor, and myrica wristlet. Depending on the type of party, I can use wolf ears to effectively tank or scapello for a bit extra damage (not separation arrow, however, because of the recoil).
Even better, for minstrels, we can now use 3 songs at once! キタ━━━(゚∀゚)━━━!!!
And..
AND...!!
Illusion bow upgrade is available. ヽ(*・ω・)人(・ω・*)ノ I upgraded my 2s which I gave to a very good friend before I left.. ふふ It's damage is (as expected) much higher than the raijodo.
I'm still missing a raton crysta, which I don't remember where I put/gave away. Without it, my damage is close to what it used to be before I left (around 60k v. nom). But once I get it, I will retest my damage.. hopefully before I level too much.
All in all, it is very exciting to be back. バイバイ!*-*//
No, seriously, it's been months since I last blogged.
I took a..5 month? 5 MONTH!! vacation away from Iruna. Personal reasons, you know.
So much seems to have changed on Iruna.
It is tempting to return to play.. but I don't even know where to start! I already gave away all of my items. All I have are my characters... and a random Quick Cool level 5 I think I forgot to give away.
When I first started Iruna, I had no idea that certain types of weapons can give way to higher attacks. I just went with whatever it said on the gear. Like...
"Oh, 15 attack on this bastard sword?! COOL!"
So I decided to post this helpful little chart for all of you struggling like me.
As you can see, when you equip certain types of gear, you are privy to greater increases in attack depending on the stats you add. For example, if you wear a normal bow, for each dex or str you add you gain 2 attack per stat.
And I think that's cool.
'-')ノ バイバイ~
EDIT:
I don't know why it says 2 atk per 1 str and agi for special claw.
It is supposed to be 4 atk per 1 str and 1 atk per 1 crt for special claw.
New boss(?) out past the cabbage butt boss Cheroze. It's called medona. It's crysta is awesome! The stats are matk + 16% on armor and skill delay -.1. Better than moldus. It's already being sold about 200-250m. Time to farm this like crazy ^-^
Minstrel Strategy:
Medona is easy until she starts to use stun... 3+ times. After each stun, HP and MP decrease rapidly, and faster after each stun. Bless cannot keep up with the MP delete so you should try to cast joy & sorrow before the stun comes.
In a party with DPS, dragonewt minstrel, bishop, and paladin, I usually do the following:
run away from the front of medona (first skill she casts is Thor's Hammer to those in front of her face) buff dream + nostalgia before entering 5-6 dragonewt after entering (about 2-3 if in party with assassin or with more DPS) buff dream + joy & sorrow -STUN- 7-8 dragonewt until end (about 4-5 if in party with assassin)
This makes for a very consistent, no-death farm. Of course, your bishop must be able to heal and spam resurrect when necessary; your DPS must have very high attack; and your paladin must be able to hold hate. I heard Medona is dark element, but gloria does not boost the damage against her. **(EDIT: medona is light element.. kk)
Minstrel is particularly good at medona because many high wizards aren't able to keep up with MP depletion of all the party members. And as we all know... no MP = death.
Today marks the end of the Anniversary Event. Because of my problems with connection, I wasn't able to get much of the gear, crysta, or even the free anniversary avatar....
(´・ω・`)
I'm pretty bummed about that.
But apparently there's a new Easter event going on.
The bosses are: チェローゼLv150 & 295, who both (but it says they both drop on wiki but on a different wiki page it says only the 295 one drops them??) apparently drop:
The ribbons sound kind of interesting to me... but I'm not sure it's worth the time to farm.
Anyhow... ....
Recently, I've cleaned out much of my storage. I plan to sell many gears, including my mythril loop with douin, my second medical ring with mezzaluna, and eventually my raijodo. I've stripped my bishop of her top-dollar empress rod 2s and am planning to use that spina towards my minstrel.
Why?
Because of two reasons. First, raijodo is just not cutting it anymore. The damage is good, but the fallbacks of accidentally pushing a skill before putting on dream or of not being able to switch to tentacion to use skills is annoying. Second, I am planning a very long series of tests using different crysta and elements to maximize my dragonewt damage. Currently, her highest solo damage has been 70k, but I'm pretty sure it can be increased. I just need time to tinker with her a bit...
My poor bishop and ハイザ。 I haven't shown them much love lately...
I have decided to abandon my poor bishop and concentrate on my minstrel.
Well, I haven't been able to cap all of her stats...actually, I haven't had the time to cap any of my characters' levels.
But... at least my minstrel is now level 265! (「・ω・)「
Because I cannot play on my phone, I have been borrowing my brother's tablet from time to time to play. But it is difficult to upload pictures to ameblo. Once Asobimo fixes this, I hope I can update this blog more often.
....
...... ╭(°ㅂ°)╮
Recently, I've had some players ask me how to build a good minstrel. But this is always dependent on what type of minstrel you are looking to make!
Like.. if you want to be the tank of your team.
Or if you want to be the strength of your team.
There are pros and cons to both. If you are tank, you rarely die but you also have very low damage output and must be very careful with your aggro set. If you are DPS, you have very high damage output but you die...A LOT.
But most popular in the English server is solo-style minstrel. Usually, this is AGI-CRT-STR/VIT. I personally dislike solo-style minstrel, even though it is pretty easy to use and not as frustrating to level. That's because I prefer making my character the best it could be, rather than trying to make it just playable.
To be honest, with any route you choose, you should be using Dragonewt song (and it goes without saying, party buffs). If you can spam this, that's even better. This is because of the mechanics of the skill. As I discussed in an earlier post, dragonewt incorporates your damage + each party member's damage. For example, when my minstrel was about level 210 she was a tank. Her dragon damage was about 5k. Now, my minstrel is DPS and does about 60k. When my minstrel was solo-style, she did about 20k at level 220-ish. Pretend I'm in a party with an assassin and a sniper.
On each of our screens, when I press "Dragonewt Song," the damage displayed is different. Like...
Assassin: 50k Sniper: 40k
So, If I was a tank, each song would do about 5k + 50k + 40k = 95k damage. If I was DPS, it would do about 60k + 50k + 40k = 150k damage. If I was solo, it would do about 20k + 50k + 40k = 110k damage.
Now, just from these numbers, 95k doesn't seem too bad. And it isn't, especially if your tank is doing both jobs of DPS and tank correctly. And 110k seems even better, as a happy middle between DPS and survivability. But this is why I choose DPS only minstrel. When you spam dragonewt, the damage is really intense.
For instance, in one boss fight I might spam dragonewt about 10 times (depending on the party member's damage)
150k x 10 = 1.5million 95k x 10 = 950k 110k x 10 = 1.1million
The difference between these damages is the difference in the minstrel's damage, not the damage of the party. In only 10 seconds, you make a huge difference in the boss's health.
This effect is further amplified in parties with high physical DPS output (gladiators, snipers, assassins, ninjas, other dps minstrels). In a party with one bishop (whose dragonewt damage is almost always paltry) and two gladiators, our dragonewt song spammed over 200k a second. That can beat assassins and high wizard damages, which depend on critical/spellburst hits.
Of course, the damage I show here does not properly show the maximum damage output of these types of minstrels of the same levels. To give a better picture, I compared my dragonewt to a friend who has a solo-type minstrel. He was about level 245 and did about 30k-35k, using both passion and nostalgia buffs. When my minstrel was about level 245, I did about 40-50k, using passion and dream (& I've seen a tank minstrel about level 290 on the Japanese server only do about 10k damage). The difference may not seem like much, but my minstrel spams the skill per second, and his did not. But then again, his minstrel can tank some lower level bosses, and mine can never tank a boss.
Anyhow, my point is to aim to spam your dragonewt per second. That means use a bow. Add dex. Keep skill delay very low. Add strength and critical for damage. Vit if you intend to be a tank. Agility only if you intend to solo. And even if you don't add agility, you can still one shot many mobs anyway.
^This guy is awesome. I've followed his blog since he was just a little tank minstrel. He's perhaps the most thorough minstrel blogger I've seen... other than Adonis?
By the way, I noticed I've had some readers even while I was away. Maybe some of my guild members? Hi TT & guildies!
