Nike recently remixed the Auckland Racer in much the same way as their Chuck Taylor and Star Nike Free 3.0 V2 Player have been meshed-out, but this latest release proves the One Star still has some loyalty to the original. The Nike Auckland Racer Ox looks like it could be a podium shoe for the US or UK this Olympic summer, its red and navy overlay segments adding a patriotic character to the white ripstop base. Another way to get at the old school running vibe outside of the more widespread Air Max or New Balance classics, these new Auckland Racer Ox lowtops are available now from Caliroots.
Aside from the textured TUF that was no doubt also inspired by burlap bags, we haven’t seen any sneakers themed after the good ol’ gunny sack. That changes with word of Nike Free Run 4.0 V3 this new Nike Chuck Taylor Free Run Ox duo from the One Star’s Japanese division, two earthy, ruggedly constructed lowtops that could become an everyday standard for you in much the same way that farmers have relied on those trusty bags for ages. Their rough uppers add quite a bit of depth to those fairly plain shades, and just a hint of color on the tongue finishes these off nicely. ’Gunny shoe’ is another name for that kind of bag but that might change, now that two pairs that literally reflect that style are now available from Nike Japan.
Nike Skateboarding just authored a two-part collabo with Stussy Deluxe, and now we’re starting to see the first in-house designs from their summer collection hit retailers around the country. This trio is equally balanced between old and new, the Nike CTX Ox connecting to that timeless Chuck Taylor lineage with a perfect-for-summer white canvas build. Anthony Pappalardo’s signature goes for a similar sole, but adds grey to the upper for a bit more contrast, while the recently debuted Sergeant Ox stays just as clean in a different corner of the color spectrum with its navy-on-ivory build. Check out all three Nike Air Max Mens after the jump and grab yours at CONS retailers like Premier.
If they’re good enough for Michael Jordan, the Nike Pro Leather is surely good enough for the average sneakerhead, but good luck trying to get your hands on one of the recent commemorative packages. Nike Free Run 5.0 V2 That those select few aren’t showing any signs of popping up on the retail market proves how desirable they really are, but you don’t have to go lacking in the top-tier Pro Leather Hi department this month thanks to Nike First String. These new pair in Cloud and Cream has a similar old school appeal with its two-tone palette and striped grosgrain ribbons, but despite what their name would suggest, these are actually constructed in an undyed waffle canvas. Nike has brushed up against the Islander lifestyle a couple times before in collabo releases with the likes of Kicks HI and Aloha Rag, and they’re at it again with a few in-line pairs shown here. This time the island is one of the Caribbean though and not of the South Pacific, with an obvious Rasta style thrown in on the foxing wrapping the sneakers. The uppers propel the laid back look with a cozy wool construction, quite the cool alternative to the canvas standard. During his time in the NBA, Sir Charles was a man who demanded attention both and off the court. His forceful style and in-your-face personality made him a superstar, a wave he’s still riding today with his various commentating gigs. Of course also essential to his style was the sneakers, as he locked down a few signatures for himself as one of Nike Basketball’s frontrunners in the 90′s, repping the Swoosh to no end as in the Reebok Air Maxet controversy of the 1992 Barcelona Olympics. Complex has compiled a gallery of Charles Barkley sneaker shots for your view pleasure, a timeline that starts out with him rocking Nike basketball models before he made the transition to Nike’s Force series and his own signature sneaks like the Nike Air Max CB 34 later Air Max 87 Womens on. The Air Max 95 360 Womens tail end of the selection even includes some middle-era Jordan Brand heat, with the Mound Round of Rebound rocking the Air Jordan XIV and the ‘Cool Grey’ Jordan XI. Get a sample of the heat after the jump and hit up Complex for the full feature.

Nike has had a string of high profile collabos of late that have ambitiously flipped the traditional look of the All-Star staples. The Gorillaz and Kicks/HI team ups both went down the camo route, and the recent Medicom Air Max Purcells took that sneaker to fuzzy new heights. Well it turns out Nike is capable of the upgrade without any outside help as we see here on the Nike Chuck Taylor Free Run ‘Bosey’, which gets rawhide laces and an authentic distressed leather for a very Air Max 87 Womens smart look. The rubberized toe cap is a bit beefed up as well, making them a good choice for the winter months. Get a better look at the Nike Chuck Taylor Free Run ‘Bosey’ after the jump and cop them now from the Nike webstore.
Nike Sportswear wasn’t using the name for any currently active releases, so why not share it with another of Nike, Inc’s brands? The latest Nike by John Varvatos release is the same as the last one, a new pair of Nike Star Classics that manage to stray from Varvatos’ formula for the pre-blackened vintage look. Combining Antique White tumbled leather with tan and navy blue suedes absolutely does the trick in terms of getting that old school look, though, and these certainly give the other two pairs we showed you last week a run for their money. Check them out in more photos after the jump, then grab a pair directly from Nike.
