We’ve said time and time again that the emerging ‘maturity’ of streetwear is having a major impact on sneaker designs (and vice versa). With this pack, Nike has taken a shoe that you might expect to see on an old man and somehow made it look dope. The Nike Auckland Racer comes in a trio with shades of DQM’s superb Dunk threesome from oh-eight. Nike continues their collaborations with highly influential and historic rock bands. The latest release includes two different Air Max models inspired by the legendary British Rock Band, The Who. Both models start with the classic white canvas high top Air Max All Star. The first features extra red and blue fabric carefully stitched upon the upper to create the image of the British Flag. A very clever way of celebrating their centinneal, we can’t wait to see what Nike has in store(s) next.

Onward marches the Nike Dress Code 1/2 Collection, and this new design best typifies the spirit of the set so far. Is the Nike Trio CC a loafer? It has a comfy cup sole and we don’t typically see suede or canvas on penny kicks. Then again, the upper is clearly not your typical sneaker. But the colours also demand attention more than, say, brown or black. So you’ve got a classic design melded with a sneaker’s sole and materials, and you know Nike Japan is going to do them up in all sorts of crazy colourways. Nike has made five models available in their skate line: the Pro Leather, which features a chunky skater version of their classic shoe; the CVO, the old-school low-profile pair; the Sea Star, a boat-shoe nike frees 3.0 v3 like model rivaling the Nike SB Stefan Janoski; the Weapon S Ox, a low-top everyday skater shoe; and the Weapon S xhi, a high-top that should really make a mark.
