Well you just gotta expect CONS is coming through with something Chuck Taylor related, and indeed, the CTS (Chuck Taylor Skate) comes through with two new colorways inverting each other’s blocking of black and red. New Anthony Pappalardo Pro Models in yellow/black and beige/white both have a vibrant, springy feel while Nick Trapasso’s signature goes for a Sacramento Kings-style suede colorway. For a brand so few Sneaker News readers are likely familiar with, Finnish textile maker Marimekko has played a big role in American history. Ratia’s mildly kitschy patterns showed up in the biggest of spotlights when Jackie O wore a bunch of the brand’s dresses during the 1960 presidential campaign (the type of thing that’d make grocery-store-checkout-asile-headline-news these days), they struck up a partnership with Crate and Barrel and have been distributed and used in displays by the store ever since. So this is a brand who played a huge role in the rise of patterned fabrics and have impacted everything from pretty much all of the furniture at Anthropologie to the box-lining paper you get with a new pair of NIKEiDs. So with all this history in mind, it’s fitting to see such an influential company collaborate with Nike on their most classic silhouettes. The Marimekko x Nike Chuck Taylor All Star High and Ox, Jack Purcell ‘Helen’ and the new Chuck Taylor All Star PJ will all be adorned with bright and playful patterns in womens sizes and you can see the whole set plus a short film about the capsule when you click the jump below.
