Recently I was thanked for my long time cooking by my oldest son who lives in Vienna now, and it almost made me cry. But I managed to control my emotions and gave him a big smile instead.
And a few days ago, I got a text from my youngest son who goes to college and lives away from us texted me asking for a cooking recipe. That made me very happy because it means he is cooking home.
Some people, including my family and friends, already know I enjoy cooking a lot.
I cook simply because I like it, and also for some other reasons. But most importantly, I cook for my family so they can stay healthy and especially for my kids so they know what home cooked meals mean to them.
It's generally better than eating out in terms of calories. Home cooked food often tastes better than the precooked meals off the counter at the grocery stores.
Once they know what good food is, they'll eventually try to cook by themselves which will encourage a healthy diet.
I know some people don't like to cook. But why don't you spend a just little bit of your free time in the kitchen for your kids instead of spending it on your hobby or whatever? The meal doesn't have to be fancy. And you don't have to cook everyday.
You may say spending your free time for yourself is a way to release stress or trying to achieve your dream. But you know what? Let’s be responsible for guiding your kids to a right direction no matter what.
You only have a limited time with your kids to engage with cooking and show them the reason why cooking is good for them.
Let‘s be a good influence towards their future life style.
