先週、恩人の1人である奥野さんがカナダ・ヴィクトリアから地元である小千谷に一時帰国。
Last week, one of my benefactors, Akiko Fraser came to Ojiya with her daughter Emmy, from Victoria, Canada.
Ojiya is her hometown too.
奥野さんは高校入学前から今までお世話になっている。
奥野さんが手伝ってくれなかったらカナダの高校への入学さえもなかったかもしれない。
When attempting to attend high school in Canada, Akiko helped me fill out all of the school applications (my English language skills were very weak then); and we have kept in touch ever since.
ヴィクトリアへ遊びに行く度にホームステイをさせてもらい、色々な所へ連れて行ってもらったので、日本へいる間は少しでも恩返しをしなければならない。
She took me to see many sites in Victoria; do I want to do something special for her now in return for all her kindness.
先週の日曜日に家族と"牛の角突き"を観に行った。
Last Sunday, my family took them to the Ojiya Bullfights.

悪天候のため屋根付きシートで観戦。
It was raining, so we bought covered seats for the event.
臭いを我慢しながらの昼食。
We bought lunch at the food booths; but it was difficult to eat because of the bad smell from the bulls!
あと1週間のうちにあと何が出来るか...
They are here one more week; so I am trying to think of what else we can show them or do with them.
