米国の微妙な情報収集活動の一部を明らかにしながら、オバマ政権は8月21日の出来事の調査結果を公表した。

pull back the curtain on X = lift the curtain on X = raise the curtain on X は、「Xに懸かっていたカーテンを引き上げる」という意味で、比喩としては、make X public（X を公開する）、disclose X （X を明らかにする）という意味になります。
