八女訪問

今日は福岡の八女へ。 

お茶が有名ですね。

I visited Yame, Fukuoka today.

This place is known for producing fine Green teas.  I spotted this old tea house as I was browsing around.

美味しいお蕎麦を食べた後、散歩がてらにお茶屋さんへ。 古〜い。 でもそれがいい。

Just had lunch at a Soba noodle place near by so I hopped in to check it out for a fine green tea tasting. 

Look at this anscient tea pot.  There's even a Matcha Whisk.  It's getting real. 

ゆっくり見てたら、お店の人が緑茶を出してくれました。 あったかくておいしい〜。 茶が濃ゆいです。 しかもこの昔の急須と、竹でできたコップ？！ 昔風で良いです。

Then, the lady at the counter brought this tea!  Oh, she read my mind.  How nice of her! 

It was strong, just the way I like.  I was imagining myself going back to the good old tea ceremony back in the day.

のれんとかもまたいい味出してます。お店の人もいい人でした。

The little white curtain hanging represents their family crest, I think. 

たたみのお部屋。 落ち着くな〜。 昭和初期にあった感じの家の雰囲気ですね。

Tatami room. It's showcasing the good old days.  Simple and relaxing. 

木でできたスラインディング ドアがいい。 味が出ている。 素敵です。

The wood sliding doors! Nice.  So 30's.  Old but nice. 

このあと神社⛩に行きました。 せっかくだからお参りしようと思って。

 When you see the gate like that, that means it'll lead you to the holy Shinto shrine.  Just wanted to swing by and say hi to God there.

Hi God, thank you for allowing me here.

どうか幸せと平和が共存して良い人生が過ごせますように〜

Let me pray.  May happiness and peace prevail in my life. 

狛犬様に見守られて。 お守りありがとうございます。 

Thank you, guardian doggies!  They are the protectors of this holy place.  They are called Komainu.

神社から帰る時、こんなに素敵なお花が。 桜？ 桃？ 梅？薄ピンクだから桜系？？？

Little pretty flowers on the way back.  Cherry blossoms?  Peach blossoms?  Or Plum blossoms?  They all look the same to me.  

八女の町はお雛人形がいっぱい。 こんなの家になかったから、圧倒された。 子供の時はお人形欲しいとか思った事なかったかな。 なんか目がつり上がっているお姫様が多くて怖かった、正直言って。 

This town adores to celebrate girls' day which was on March 3rd.  They are the old school dolls which I used to get scared of.  (Their eyes are extremely slim and lifted.  They look cold.  As a child I was wondering why traditional dolls don't look cute.). 

So, on top of that red carpet thing, there are a Princess and a Prince sitting.  The rest below are their entrage.  It's up to you to see a classism here or just a girly dolly thing.  Either way, they're gorgeous. 

でもこの船に乗ってるのは、七福神みたいでいいです。 頑張ってこいでね〜。

These guys in the boat look like the Seven Gods from the sea if you know the parable.  I like that that they're rowing the boat. 

こっちも。ゴンドラ風だね〜。 龍が中国っぽい。

かわいい、これは。 私はすまして座っているおとなしいお姫様より、頑張ってこいでる姫の方が好き。自分の人生自分でカジ取らないとね。そんな姫、かっこよくない？？？

Look at the fancy ones. Enter the dragons 🐉 Looks like they are influenced by Chinese culture.  

It'll be cool if the Princess is rowing.  It's 2017, you got to make it on your own, gotta be in charge, Princess!  That's your life in the line.  Don't let your  puppies, you gotta Live your life.  No more co-dependency to your entrage.

Cart ride? Stagecoach?  This one is pulled by a person, not a horse. 

Nice little tea garden.

日本庭園っぽい。小さいけど。

またお姫様達。 古い町は姫を歓迎してくれる。すごく豪華。

Gorgeous!  To me, they all seem to be Princesses.  How many are there???

Even the bunny couple dressed up in the Queendom and Kingdom.  I love these cute little things! 

What a day!  Just a handful of things to see.  I love this old fashioned town.
