Qualcomm stock took a bit of a tumble Wednesday following a report from Bloomberg that Samsung plans to exclusively use its own chips in the next version of its best-selling Galaxy S smartphone.

The Bloomberg report cited unnamed sources as saying that Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 "overheated during the [South] Korean company's testing" of its next-gen Galaxy S smartphone. Samsung is expected to unveil the successor to the Galaxy S5 in the next several weeks, likely in early March at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

Samsung is dropping the latest Snapdragon processor and going with its own for the Galaxy S6. A Bloomberg report says the newest Qualcomm chip overheated during Samsung’s testing. The 64-bit Snapdragon 810 is the latest from Qualcomm and is planned for several high-end phones this year.

This didn’t just impact Qualcomm’s ego—the company’s stock took a 3.5 percent dip, its sharpest decline in two months.

Samsung says it’s going with its own Exynos chip for the Galaxy S6, the first time it is doing so with a U.S. version of a phone (many Samsung phones already ship with Exynos ships in some parts of the world). That’s because previous models of its system-on-a-chip didn’t include an integrated LTE modem. Its newest option, the 64-bit Exynos 7 Octa, does. The report didn’t indicate which specific chip Samsung would be using in the final build of the Galaxy S6.There are many samsung galaxy S5 cases on the market,if you want to find more cellphone cases, you can go to favor2buy.com.

We should see the finished product of the Galaxy S6 at Mobile World Congress in March, along with other flagships like the HTC One M9. Other reports indicated that Samsung is also going with an iPhone-style fingerprint sensor and dialing back TouchWiz to make its next phone more appealing.

Samsung will not use Qualcomm ’s processors for the next version of its flagship Galaxy S smartphone, Bloomberg reported on Wednesday, citing unidentified sources.

Such an outcome would be a blow for Qualcomm’s prospects for 2015, with the company already having guided for weaker-than-usual annual revenue growth in a five-year outlook issued in November. Samsung, the world’s biggest smartphone maker, has been one of the US company’s top customers.

Qualcomm’s new Snapdragon 810 chip overheated during Samsung’s testing, Bloomberg reported. The South Korean company will use its own processors instead, Bloomberg said.

A Qualcomm spokesman declined to comment on the report. A Samsung spokeswoman said the company does not comment on rumours.

Analysts have said the Snapdragon 810 chip has been dealing with a variety of performance issues that may not be corrected in time for the launch of Samsung’s next Galaxy S smartphone.
