Morphology - hinted and players | Student's Blog

Student's Blog

Notes which I just copied and pasted from the internet and my personal notes.

Recently our topic is Morphology.

In line with that I have a question.

1) HINTED

There are two morphemes here. HINT+ED..

My answer was HINT is a verb.

Yet according to my professor it is a NOUN.

2) PLAYERS

There are 2 morphemes here. PLAY+ERS.

However, PLAY in here is a verb.

Why can't that be a noun then?? How do you know that it is a verb? What is the rule behind it??

I told her to explain her answers to me. But she didn't give me clear answers.

If I cannot find the correct explanation on my own as soon as possible, then I will have to ask that JOURNALIST for English.
