Part 1

Garbage is becoming a huge problem in our society.  Whether it's plastic, paper or electronic devices, all of that rubbish is immediately thrown in the garbage disposal.  Althought we try to recycle, the amount of waste we throw away severely outweighs the amount of recycled rubbish.  NOt to mention the amazing potential of resources than can be pulled from old electronic hardware.

But shy is it the case, anyways that there's so much "cellular waste"?  Some say it's because of the ever-increasing speed of new developemnts in technology.  Ohers say that it's because advertising has become more and more effective over the last couple of years.  Or perhaps it is because phones are simply becoming more and more fragile and are prone to having a broken screen, a battery that runs out too quickly or any other malfunction.  Electronical hardware isn't the only evil-doer, though.  For example any packaging made out of plastic cannot simply bemelted into a moldable plastic;  plastic doesn't work that way.   Plastic bags usually end up on the garbage piles because of that.

But the giggest concern right now is, surprisingly, paper.  We, as a society, use paper for everyday tasks; Whether it's writing down groceries, faxing the tax income from last month or even writing a CPE test.  It is of no surprise that paper is the biggest environmental concernwhen one realises the sheer amount of paper that is used by humanity every day.  The only reason it's not as bad as plastic is that paper is biogradable.  Papar can be made into a pulp, only to be recast into the good old A4 format we all know and love.

Now we just have to actually do that, if we wish to save our environment.(292)

Dear Sir/ madam,
I am writing in regards to the feature in your magazine that concerns taking risks.

Risks are being taken your whole life, everywhere around you.  One had to only realise that some risks may be more impactful than others.  Once upon a day, I fell in love with the most beautiful girl in the world.  I was so madly in love I couldn't deal with not knowing if she loved me back.  I thoughtlessly took a risk and confessed my deep feelings for her.  She didn't feel the same way, and I was devastated.  A broken man, I couldn't help but feel it wasn't a risk I should have taken.  Over the course of a month, however, she did fall in love with me, as a direct consequence of my leap of faith.

She admired my courage and  now noticed me, discovering untold virtues in me unnoticed by anyone else.  We are now happily together and wedding plans are being made.  I think it is that courage, the courage she saw in me that entices p eople to take risks, despite the odds not being in your favour.  It is this desire to be looked up to and admired that makes our inner risk-taker tick.

In retrospect, I am so glad I built up the courage to take my risk, for if I wouldn't have, I could not stop deliberating the "What-if's".  In life we do not regret the risks we took, but the ones we did not.  Taking risks can be a catharsis, allow you to see things clearly and teach you something in the process.  Taking a well-deliberated risk is almost always worth taking, because to think about what could have been, is so much worse than seeing what never became, knowing you took the chance.

Thus, I would like to end by encouraging all of you to take risks, or to, as Nike would say, just do it.
Yours sincerely.(326)
