Joni Mitchell － BBC In Concert 1970 （Gift DVDR）

　1969年5月にリリースした 2nd アルバム『 Clouds （青春の光と影）』は，3月11日にカリフォルニア州ロサンゼルスのシュライン・オーディトリアム会場で第12回グラミー賞（12th Annual Grammy Awards）の「Best Folk Performance」部門で受賞したジョニ・ミッチェル（Joni Mitchell）．

　そして，1970年4月にリリースした 3rd アルバム『 Ladies Of the Canyon （レディズ・オブ・ザ・キャニオン）』も，同年12月にゴールド・ディスク認定と，乗りに乗っていた時期のジョニ・ミッチェル（Joni Mitchell）の映像が，商品を 2組購入すると希望者に配布されるギフト・アイテム『 BBC In Concert 1970 （Gift DVDR）』として登場しました．

　英国BBCで収録されたもので，ギフト・アイテムのクレジットは，1970年10月9日となっていますが，実際は，9月3日に収録，10月9日＆1971年5月17日に放映されたもののようです．

　70年4月に自身初のゴールド・アルバム（70年12月に認定)となる「Ladies Of The Canyon」のヒットを受け、翌年6月に弾き語り時代最後の、そして最高傑作となるアルバム「Blue」を発表する間に収録されたプログラムとなります。
　ヒット・シングルとなった「Big Yellow Taxi」、セカンド・アルバムからのシングル・カット曲「Chelsea Morning」等４曲はギターでの弾き語りで演奏され、３枚目のアルバムからの傑作曲「For Free」と、この時点では未発表曲となる「My Old Man」の２曲はピアノで、そして同じく未発表曲となる「California」はダルシマーによる弾き語りで披露され、３０分を通して全て一人で演奏するという、この番組としては異例のステージが展開されていますが、多くのミュージシャンに影響を及ぼした充実した楽曲と洗礼された歌詞、そしてファルセットを効果的に使う歌唱方法で聴衆を魅了し、この放送を当時視聴した人々には相当なカルチャー・ショックを与えたであろうと思われる番組が収録されています。
