Diabetes Reality
I'll start with the general part.
Diabetes is determined by a blood test number called blood glucose. In my case, the diagnosis was straightforward. However, this is not the end of the diagnosis. After this, a detailed examination is conducted to determine which type of diabetes is present and whether there are any complications.
Usually there are no symptoms, but when blood glucose levels are high to some extent, one may experience a strange dry throat or weight loss even though one is not exercising or eating much. In extreme cases, I collapse and go to the hospital by ambulance!
There are roughly several types of diabetes
Type 1 diabetes, in which the body does not produce insulin.
Type 2 diabetes, in which insulin is present but not working or in low amounts.
There are others.
Both type 1 and type 2 diabetes are caused by heredity. Diabetes is caused by a combination of factors on top of genes. Until I heard about it from a doctor, I considered a genetic disease and Type 2 was considered diabetes as a lifestyle disease.
