Preview of February 17 Column in Fuji Evening News
明日、2月17日（火）の午後に発売される夕刊フジに、私の連載「ニッポンの新常識」第３回目が掲載される予定です。冒頭部分を少しだけ先行公開します。
The third installment of my weekly column called "Common Knowledge Revisited" is scheduled to appear in the Fuji Evening News tomorrow, Tuesday, February 17th. I will post here just the first two or three paragraphs.

韓国（大韓民国）では、安重根（アン・ジュングン）が英雄視されている。彼は１９０９年に、日本の初代内閣総理大臣で、初代韓国統監である伊藤博文を暗殺した人物である。
In Korea (the Republic of Korea), An Jung-geun is considered a hero. In 1909 he assassinated Ito Hirobumi, the first prime minister of Japan, who was then the first Resident-General of Korea.
韓国では「反日」が国是なので、日本の重要人物を暗殺した安重根は英雄とされる。一方、保守的な日本人はおそらく、「反日思想のテロリスト」として捉えている。
In Korea, where the national policy is anti-Japanese, An Jung-geun is considered a hero for assassinating an important Japanese leader. In contrast, most conservative Japanese probably perceive him as an “anti-Japanese terrorist.”
日本でも、幕末に数多くの暗殺を行った新選組を英雄視する人は多い。倫理面から、暗殺犯はすべてテロリストだと断じることも可能だ。だから、「安重根は英雄か、テロリストか？」という日韓対決に結論が出る見込みは永遠にない。
Likewise in Japan, in the closing days of the Tokugawa shogunate, a special police force organized by the military government called the “shinsengumi”carried out many assassinations, but the members were viewed by many as heroes. However, from an ethical standpoint, it is possible to consider all assassins as terrorists. Therefore, the controversy between Japan and Korea as to whether An Jung-geun was a terrorist or a hero will likely never be resolved.

しかし、少し調べてみると、安重根は反日思想の持ち主ではないことが分かる。
However, upon further investigation, we find that An Jung-geun did not harbor anti-Japanese views.
