本日は札幌への出張ですが、札幌は大雪。羽田からの便はＪＡＬ以外欠航でした。
Business trip to Sapporo today. Not the best timing since it is snowing heavily. All the airlines cancelled their flights from Haneda this morning except JAL.
幸いにして自分はＪＡＬでした。流石、新千歳空港は自衛隊の基地でもあり、「今日は雪なので戦争ができません」なんて言っていられないので設備が整っています。
Fortunately, my ticket was with JAL. Since the airport is also an Air Self Defense Base, they can’t just say, “It’s snowing today, so we can’t fight a war.” It think this airport has the best equipment except for Haneda and Narita (and Kadena, Yokota, Iwakuni, Misawa).
しかし、ＪＲ北海道は、雪国の鉄道会社なのに雪に弱いですね。札幌駅の手前で50分間電車の中に監禁されて、お陰さまで仕事に遅れています。
The problem is JR Hokkaido. For a railroad company operating in snow country, they always seem to have trouble with the snow. We got trapped in the train for 50 minutes. As a result I am late for work.
帰りの飛行機は、機材さえあれべ飛ぶでしょう。こういうときは何でも楽観的に考えないといけませんね。
If they have an available airplane, I think the return flight will not be cancelled. In a case like this, this kind of positive thinking is about all you do.
幸いにして私は雪が好きだから、ストレスがなく、むしろ嬉しくなっています！
Fortunately, I like snow, so I’m not feeling any stress over this. Actually, it’s kind of a happy break from the monotonous weather in Tokyo.
