（Record China）2014年11月12日、中国新聞網によると、米国のオバマ大統領は中国の習近平（シー・ジンピン）国家主席と会談を行ったとき、「台湾の問題における米国の立場に変化はない。米国は台湾の独立を支持しない。引き続き、両岸関係を改善することを支持する」とし、さらに「米国はチベットは中華人民共和国の一部と認識しており、チベット独立を支持しない」と述べたことを伝えている。

BEIJING, Nov. 12 (Xinhua) -- U.S. President Barack Obama reiterated on Wednesday that the United States does not support "independence" of Taiwan and Tibet when meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping. The U.S. favors the improvement of cross-Strait relations and expects it to continue, he said. The U.S. acknowledges Tibet as part of the People's Republic of China and does not back "Tibet independence," he added.

今年２月に、ホワイトハウスでダライラマ法王と会談した際、オバマ大統領は「アメリカはチベット特有の宗教・文化・言葉の伝統およびチベット人の人権をサポートします。しかし、チベットの中国からの独立は支持しません」と改めて伝えています。
When he met with the Dalai Lama at the White House in February 2014, Obama reaffirmed his support for Tibet's unique religious, cultural and linguistic traditions and human rights for Tibetans, but went on to say that he does not support Tibetan independence from China.
この時、ホワイトハウス報道官のジェイ・カーニーは「中国のチベット地区における継続的な緊迫と、ますます悪化する人権の状態に高い関心があります。前提条件を設定せずに、ダライラマ法王または彼の代理人と直接会談するよう、中国政府には勧めます」と述べています。
The White House spokesman Jay Carney said "We're concerned about continuing tensions and the deteriorating human rights situation in Tibetan areas of China. We will continue to urge the Chinese government to resume dialogue with the Dalai Lama or his representatives without pre-conditions as a means to reduce tensions."
