Godzilla vs. King Ghidora
ゴジラの生誕60周年（還暦）と、7月25日に新作「GODZILLA」が公開されることを記念して、CS放送の日本映画専門チャンネルでは、3月からゴジラの総力特集をやっています。1年を掛けて過去の30作品全てを放送する予定です。

In celebration of the 60th birthday of Godzilla and the release of the new Godzilla movie in Japan on July 25th, the CS Japanese Movie Premium Channel has been running a special series of Godzilla movies since March. It plans to broadcast all 30 Godzilla movies over the course of one year.
そしてゴジラより少しだけ年上である私の62回目の誕生日、5月25日(日)の22:50から、私の出演作「ゴジラVSキングギドラ」が放送されます。残念ながら主役級の扱いではありませんが(笑)、この写真の通り、ちゃんと予告編にも出ていました！ 親友のチャック・ウィルソンも敵役として出演してますよ。
I am just slightly older than Godzilla, and on my 62nd birthday, May 25th, at 22:50 p.m., "Godzilla vs. King Ghidora," the Godzilla movie in which I appeared, will be aired. Unfortunately, I am not one of the main stars, but as you can see from the picture, my face was used in the movie advertising. You will note that my good friend Chuck Wilson has a main role as our adversary..
私の役は、ラゴス島の米海軍大佐ですが、他にも日本語をしゃべれる外国人タレントとして活躍していた仲間が出演しています。山形弁研究家のダニエル・カールは部下の米海軍少佐（役名はなぜかスピルバーグ）を演じ、アメリカ海軍副官は当時、同志社大学で教えていたジェフ・バークランドがやっています。
I appear in the role of a colonel in the U.S. Navy on Lagos Island, and several other Japanese-speaking media celebrities appear with me. My subordinate, lieutenant commander Spielberg, is played by Daniel Kahl, who is famous as an expert in Yamagata dialect, and my superior, an adjutant, is played by Jeff Berglund, who was a teacher at Doshisha University at the time.
撮影は海上自衛隊横須賀基地にある自衛艇の上で行われました。非常に蒸し暑い日だったので、汗対策に苦労したことを覚えています。自衛官用の食事と同じものを作ってくれましたが、非常に美味しかったのが驚きでした。自衛艇でおいしい食事が食べられるとは思ってもいなかったのです。
We filmed on board a ship inside the Japanese Maritime Self Defense Forces base in Yokosuka. I recall that it was extremely hot and humid, and we were all trying to keep from getting all sweaty. The ship’s galley prepared for us the same food as it serves to the crew, and I was surprised that it tasted really good! For some reason, it had not occurred to me that the food on a navy ship would be that great.
米軍の軍人役だから、映画の中で当然私たちは英語で話しています。米国内の配給版を見たら、日本語のセリフを英語に吹き替えるときに、私たちの英語まで他の人の英語に吹き替えていたので驚きました。妙な感じがしました。
Of course as American military personnel, we speak English in the film. I was very surprised, however, to see that when the movie was dubbed into English for distribution in the United States, they not only dubbed the Japanese lines into English, but also had someone else speak our lines. It was very strange.
ふと気が付いたのですが、キングギドラって、私と同じイニシャルですね！この投稿に使うキャプチャ写真のタイトルを「GvsKG」に省略したのですが、まるで私がゴジラと戦うみたいです！
I recently realized that King Ghidora and I have the same initials. You will see on the picture “GvsKG”, as if I were the one fighting Godzilla.
放送当日は誕生日記念イベントに出席するため、おそらくリアルタイムでは鑑賞できないと思いますが、録画して久しぶりに見てみようと思います。
I doubt that I will be able to actually watch the broadcast because of a birthday event which I must attend, but I intend to record it to enjoy later.
ちなみに5月29日(木)19:00から再放送もあるそうです。
By the way, the movie will be rebroadcast at 19:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 29th.
