Good Evening!

It's been awhile since I have done an English post. I am at the University computer lab, misbehaving by being on the computer instead of doing my homework - as per usual.....

However, today, I will try to be quick because the computer lab smells like a fish supper....

I had a nice time on Arran. Our trip was a very kind gift from my husband's brother.

It was great to finally visit the island that we look at every day from the apartment. I think it is a place better visited in the spring or summer, when the grass is green. I am sorry that I haven't posted photographs yet, but I will do tomorrow. I took quite a few.

For me, the highlight was a series of 5 or 6 stone circles from around 4000 BC - they were not as impressive as Stonehenge, with its very large stones and the stones that lie on top, but it still was amazing to see. Unlike Stonehenge, the site is not cordoned off. Well, you do have to hop over a farmer's fence and walk through a field of sheep and mud to get there, but it was certainly well worth the walk. You can go right up to the stones and touched them. Call me a bit weird, but I hugged one of the stones. I think I wanted to thank it for standing so proudly for so long. I am presuming that the area is a kind of power spot or was an area of some significance or importance for there to be so many stone circles around. The area was once part of the ancient kingdom of Dalriada, which stretched over Scotland and Ireland. We also looked at some old castles and stopped off to visit small towns.

My husband was happy because for our dinner at the hotel, he had a steak. As for me, I had a wonderful seafood platter. The following morning we had a full Scottish breakfast, which kept us going through the day. Because the weather was terrible (torrential rain and snow) we ended up coming home a little earlier than we had originally planned. However, this was not before I did a little shopping. I bought some scented soaps and Arran cheddar cheese to bring home. My husband bought oatcakes. (They are more like crackers than cakes - they are hard, small, and round)

Well, I best go do my homework before class!

Last week, the teacher played us SMAP's 'Sekai ni hitotsu dake no hana' for the listening comprehension part of the class. I was so happy!

Have a great evening and I will post some photos tomorrow.
