Office For Mac 2011 Change Product Key

I have a legitimate copy of MS Office 2011 for Mac with a product key. It is a digital download via the MS Home Use Program. I want to move Office from my rMBP to my riMac. When you try to start any Office for Mac 2011 application, you are prompted to enter the product key and activate the program or to purchase the product online. You receive this prompt even though the product is licensed.

Your link points to Microsoft's 'Volume Licensing Service Center'. Maybe the product key was assigned during the download process somehow. Usually installing volume software doesn't require entering an 'activation key' on each seperate machine.

If the software works normal, is not asking to register, I suppose it has already been registered. Just keep your proof of purchase at hand, just in case.

So far all the Office 2011 versions I needed to activate online were shipped as a single use license (in a box). Here's some copy-pasting from the MS site: 'Are Product Keys required for all Volume Licensing products? Some products do not require a product key. To determine if a product requires a volume license product key, look up the product.

' You can read it here.

I have several legal license keys for Office:mac 2008. I want to do a quick audit of the two machines I've installed office on and verify which license keys are being used where. But I don't see the license key anywhere on the about dialog (or elsewhere). I've seen other postings on the 'net directing me to look at various.plist files, but those only give me the 'Product ID' which is different from the license key (which MS calls the 'Product Key' on the little sticker).

Is there a way outside of calling MS to correlate the Product Key (which is required for installation and is the real license key) to the Product ID I see in the app itself? It looks like the serial number is in the SetupInfo.plist file, but it's obfuscated in some way. EDIT: The following comes from: Is there an easy way to do trial and error and change the key if it was already used? If you look in the Application menu for the About item and display that, it will display the Product ID to you.
