A police officer whose girlfriend died after being beaten and hypothermic on the side of a suburban Boston road has been set on $50,000 bail after pleading not guilty to vehicular manslaughter and manslaughter.
Karen Reed of Mansfield is accused of being killed by Boston Police officer John O'Keefe and assaulting him with her car around Jan. 28 in Canton, prosecutors said in court Wednesday.
Mr Reid, 41, allegedly asked a witness: "Did I hit him, did I hit him?" Investigators said they seized her vehicle and found a broken taillight and other evidence of O 'Keefe's injuries, according to NBC News affiliate NBC 10 Boston. On the Friday night before his death, O 'Keefe, 46, allegedly had drinks with his girlfriend, Reed, in Canton before Reed drove O 'Keefe to a house party at the address where he was found near death the next morning, NBC Boston reported.
