At least dozens of General Electric employees walked out of a plant in South Carolina on Thursday to protest the federal government's requirement that workers on federal contracts be vaccinated against Novel coronavirus.

About 100 people lined the street outside a General Electric plant in Greenville on Thursday, with a handful of them wearing GE uniforms and eventually driving away from the property, New York State reported.

Protesters could be seen holding signs that read "Jab or Job. No empowerment ", "My Body, My Choice" and "We support GE employees". Some quote Timothy 1:17 in verse 2 of the Bible, "For God has not given us a spirit of timidity, but of strength, of love, and of self-control."

Two GE employees, Jason Owens and Shannon Harrill, told the Greeneville News that the protest was aimed at the vaccine mandate, not their company.

"We've been essential employees throughout the COVID pandemic," said Harrier, who has worked at GE for nearly 20 years. "We have to stay here or we will lose our jobs. And now you're asking me to leave it here."
