One teacher isolated himself in the plane's bathroom for five hours after testing positive for novel coronavirus during the flight.
Marisa Fotieo underwent a rapid lateral flow test after her throat began to feel sore during a trip from Chicago, Illinois, to Reykjavik, Iceland. Despite the necessary negative pre-departure tests, she soon found herself infected with Novel coronavirus and forced to self-quarantine.
"There were 150 people on the plane, and my biggest fear was handing it over to them," Fortio told NBC's Today show. The Michigan teachers then spent five hours of the six-hour trip in the plane's small bathroom. She posted videos of the experience on TikTok, including one in which she found herself infected with Novel coronavirus, which went viral and was viewed more than 4 million times. "It felt like two lines in two seconds," she said of the Dec. 20 exam. Upon arrival, Fotieo was taken directly off the plane for a mandatory 10-day quarantine at a hotel for COVID-19 patients.
