About 2 p.m. Friday, Alexis Avila, 18, was seen arriving at the dumpster on North Thorpe Street in Hobbs, pulling a black garbage bag out of the car and throwing it into the container.

Six hours later, three men were seen taking out the bag while going through the bin, looking inside and finding the baby.

The woman quickly wrapped the newborn and took the baby to a truck while a man was apparently on the phone to authorities, according to the outlet.

According to the criminal complaint, the man who found the child told police that he, his girlfriend and another friend were going through a dumpster when they thought they heard crying from one of the bags. He found that the umbilical cord was still attached and determined that the baby was a boy. He immediately called the police. It was 36 degrees when police arrived.

"Upon arrival, officials provided assistance to the newborn and the baby was transported by Hobbs EMS to a local hospital. The child was then taken to Lubbock Hospital for further paediatric treatment, "police said in a statement.
