At least dozens of General Electric employees walked out of a plant in South Carolina on Thursday to protest a federal order requiring workers with federal contracts to be vaccinated against the coronavirus.

About 100 people, some wearing GE uniforms, lined the street outside a General Electric plant in Greenville on Thursday and eventually drove away from the plant, according to the state. Protesters could be seen holding signs reading "Jab or Job." "My body, my choice," and "We support GE employees." Some quote 2 Timothy 1:17 from the Bible: "For God has not given us fear; But strength, love and a sound mind."

Two GE employees, Jason Owens and Shannon Harrill, told the Greenville News that the protest was aimed at the vaccine mandate, not their company.

"We have been essential employees throughout the COVID-19 pandemic," said Mr Khalil, who has worked at GE for nearly 20 years. "We were told to stay here or we would lose our jobs. Now you want me to stay here with it."
