Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey faced questions from city leaders on Monday about his policy related to the department's enforcement of a bomb suppression order, just days after a city police officer shot and killed a man during a raid, police said.
Frey fielded dozens of questions Monday afternoon at the Minneapolis City Council's Policy and Government Oversight Committee "Discussion on the Policy Banning Explosives Orders," when he emphasized the responsibility to respect "the sanctity of life."
"That means the primary goal of any of these decisions is to protect life, period. That means the safety of the public, that means the safety of our officers and everyone, "he said. "And it shouldn't have taken a tragedy to get us here."
