The VOOPOO Drag 2 kit features the dual-18650 Drag 2 mod and the Uforce T2 sub ohm tank. The original Drag was a best seller for a bunch of reasons: it came with the very accurate GENE chip, started the whole rapid-firing craze with its 0.01 second firing speed, and all of that at a very affordable price tag. That said, it did have its shortcomings, as even 24 mm atomizers were protruding slightly, the battery door had a bit of a play and the paint on the black version was susceptible to scratches and wear.
Let's see if and how the Drag 2 addresses these issues and how the kit performs overall.
The Drag 2 is a dual-18650 mod that fires up to 177 watts. It comes only in black, but with a variety or resin color options to pick from. I received the "fire cloud" one, which, unfortunately, is my least favorite of the bunch. It still looks good, it's just that the others look even better in my opinion. Thankfully, the white part of the large DRAG branding on the back of the mod is toned down a bit compared to the original, giving it a more discreet look. And the edges are rounded this time, making it much more pleasant to hold.
The mod weighs 157 grams, around 50 grams lighter than the original Drag. The paint job feels much better too; my OG Drag has scratches all over the place, but it seems like they have fixed this issue now. The magnets of the battery door are very strong, but as with the first Drag, there is a bit of a play there. No rattle or anything like that, but you can move the door with your hand.

The Voopoo X217 Mod is a very nicely built and well-designed mod that is quite comfortable to hold in the hand. It's a simple oval-shaped symmetrical mod with a front facing screen and a centered 510 pin. There have been a few mods like this in 2018 and I've always been a fan of the design. It has a good weight to it as well, not very heavy but feels solid. It's not much bigger than a dual-18650 mod either. While many 21700 mods have hit the market in 2018 due to their new popularity, most have been single-cell, so it's nice to see another one come out with that battery configuration. The sides have black carbon fiber accents and the fire button and back have resin panels on them. There is also a programmable U-shaped LED strip on the front of the mod.
The battery door is a standard bottom latch system we see on many mods these days. It worked well for me with no issues. The screen is a large and bright 1.3" color square shaped screen. It's a full color screen too, not just color text, and comes with 8 pre-programmed backgrounds including the default black one. There is no software available at the time of this review, so no idea if you will be able to load your own in the future, which is a feature we seen on some mods these days. It's a really nice screen. The LED offers very limited options though. You can turn it off completely or on. There is one mode (breathing) and four color configurations: green, blue, red, and a cycle through seven different colors. Odd that there wouldn't be more color options or modes than that.
There is no button rattle at all on this mod. The 510 pin is great and gave me no issues with any atomizer. It’s centered and the platform itself can fit a 33 mm atomizer flush, so your 30 mm atomizers will look great on this mod with no overhang. The USB port is on the front bottom right below a small logo. I don’t recommend charging batteries internally in mods with removable batteries, especially with multiple battery mods, but I checked the charge rate briefly and it charges a little above 1.5 amps. Either way, external charging is the way to go, this is just for informational purposes only.

Voopoo X217 Mod is a pretty full-featured mod overall. There are Voltage Mode, Watt curve mode (set in 1 second increments for 10 seconds and 5 memory slots), Power mode (watts) and Temp control mode for Ni200, Ti, SS, and Ni80. No TCR mode but the TCR is adjustable in each of the preset modes, although limited to a range. It uses the same TCR system as the other GENE chip mods.
As far as usage goes, the menu system of VOOPOO X217 Mod has been improved a lot this time around. With a bigger screen, X217 mod is a much easier mod to navigate than the older gene chipped mods like the original Drag. If you enjoy VOOPOO Drag, then don’t miss VOOPOO X217 Mod.
