ある賢人いわく、
「真実は飾り立てないのが良い」
In japan, Rikyu said "wa-kei-sei-jaku", the four principles of tea lore. (Harmony, Respect, Purity and Tranquiliy)
日本では千利休が「和敬清寂」を説いた。
茶道における四つの原則である。

そして彼の信条は秀吉の逆鱗に触れた。
Rikyu had detected his hollow personality.
利休は彼の虚栄心に満ちた人格を喝破／見抜いていた。
As his final stage approaches, Hideyoshi couldn't help drawing on his mind.
老いが進むにつれ、秀吉は自身の心を、
塗り固めずにはいられなくなった。
It just a short story, 'the emperor's new clothes.'
まさに、「裸の王様」
He and his environments began to change honky-tonk place.
彼と彼の周囲は、ケバケバしく変化していった。

ちなみに、愚者の象徴とまで揶揄( やゆ )された、
北条高時も派手好きなタイプであった。
In after years, he and his clan committed suicide in Tosho-ji Temple.
後年、彼と彼の一族は東勝寺にて自害している。
Back to Hideyoshi's topic,
秀吉の話に戻すと、
Rikyu remonstrate him with metaphor,
利休は暗喩でもって彼を諌めた。
there, Hideyoshi saw just one morning glory.
そこで秀吉が目にしたのは、たった一輪の朝顔であった。
And then Hideyoshi run out of his patience with his demonstration.
そして秀吉は利休の行動に堪忍袋の緒が切れた。
Once his real face appears, he continued to clean up a nuisance until his death.
いったんプッツンしたが最後、
彼は晩年まで邪魔者の粛清を続けた。
I'm sure his mind had been filled blackish heat of anger from suspicions.
きっと彼の心の中は、猜疑心からくる、
ドス黒い怒りの炎で満たされていたに違いない。
